Every year the designers come up with new ideas, new colors and new trends for the season. So much of what they see is influenced by our contemporary lifestyles it can be a job in itself to keep up. No sooner is one thing in, then it’s on its way out. The trick is to look at your furniture like your wardrobe; buy a few really good pieces that you can accessorize in a simple and inexpensive way to always seem as if you are on the cutting edge of fashion and style, and you will be!
Here is a partial list of design trends for 2013 to get you started planning some interior design updates. Naturally, everything you could possibly need can be found at Treasurecombers.net.
Botanical and insect wall prints- you may remember last week’s blog on new wall art showed more of these lovely wall prints. Amazing, Affordable Hand Painted Art and Wall Prints
Themed rooms: French country, Old World and Tuscan themes are always in style- Creature comforts such as more artwork and statues to personalize a home are also in evidence for this year.
Sculpture can really personalize your living space.
Winter colors are a bit softer, woods are lighter in color and we are seeing a lot of light colored driftwood pieces in lamps, tables and art.
A “soft “contemporary category seems to take the harsh edge off some of the more industrial looking pieces. Using a soft, muted palette of light greys, ivory and off whites, as I was predicting in a past blog (Click Here) How to Decorate with a Neutral Palette. You can achieve a muted, toned down look to dark metal furniture and give it a homey feeling with lighter colored fabrics and drapery.
Look for more use of natural elements in furniture design such as bamboo, woven baskets, shells and especially mother of pearl components and less in the way of plastics manufactured materials.
I hope some of these new trends in decorating will inspire you to do a bit of updating around your home. There are so many wonderful ways to keep up with the trends that are fun and affordable. Treasurecombers is always your first stop in what’s new and exciting.
More on what’s new for 2013 soon.
Until next week,

One of my favorite moments of the New Year is getting the chance to look around my home and decide which pieces of furniture have become worn out and what needs replacing. The rule of thumb to live by is if you don’t love it, get rid of it, or give it away to someone who may absolutely adore the piece you are tired of.
