Summer Solstice, Moon Viewing and Outdoor Living

Yesterday was the annual Summer Solstice. This is the longest day of the year, and most of us relish spending more time outside in our gardens, our decks or perhaps sitting on the front stoop. Wherever you are enjoying the longer daylight hours, decorating your outside space can be a delight with some of the furniture and accessory finds at Treasurecombers.net. One way to spruce up the garden is with lovely outdoor planters. They can go right in the garden or keep them on a deck or front porch filled with your favorite blooms. You can even go crazy and plant a whole container garden right on your deck or patio.  This is a great way to have your summer veggies within reach of the kitchen without all the digging, weeding and watering.

Hang a wrought iron basket filled with sweet peas or impatiens on the wall of your patio. This can help make an outside dining area so inviting!

One of the things I love about Oriental gardens is the way they were set up for the seasons and for specific types of gatherings. My favorite type of summer evening party involves borrowing a theme from an ancient Chinese custom called “moon viewing”. On the full moon, providing you have access to the Eastern sky, invite your friends and family over to have a moon viewing party. The ambiance created by the thrill of a luminous, silvery bright full moon is a wonderful excuse for some lovely food and drink. You may want to buy some of these fabulous ceramic, oriental garden stools in these stunning colors from Treasurecombers.net. Set them out in a semi-circle or place them in strategic positions around your yard or deck. Sip some chilled oolong tea with some iced watermelon and enjoy the romance and magic of a full moon summer night. The next full moon in July 3, so plan a moon party. Your guests will feel the love!

Of course, the garden bench is a classic. Placed on a porch or outside patio, the look is full of charm and makes an inviting space for guests to sit a while and relax.

Nothing says summer like the scent of roses. How wonderful to see them climbing a trellis in all their glorious colors. Roses in white, red, pinks and blush peach colors will dress up a drab wall and create an uplifting splash of joy every time you see them. I can just see them climbing these romantic trellises from Treasurecombers.net.
