The Quest for the Perfect Chair – Listen to Your Inner Decorator!

Basically you have 3 distinct categories of chairs; arm chairs, side chairs and accent chairs. Next come slipper chairs, occasional chairs, armless chairs and lounge chairs. When it comes to decorating and choosing which chair goes with what and what chair suits the living room or the bedroom, the choices are endless. This is where a little savvy decorating advice can go a long way.

Choose an armchair with an ottoman if you have a large room that needs to feel a bit more cozy and warm.  A big, comfortable armchair can fill a big space and pull the elements of a sofa and coffee table together in a balanced arrangement.  Combine throw pillows and lap blankets of cashmere or chenille to add that extra finishing touch. Luxurious fabrics in neutral  tones will give you a homey feel and create an inviting space to curl up and relax.

When it comes to choosing a side chair, or accent chairs, well, where do I begin? Depending on your personal taste and the overall theme of your home or office, the choices can be overwhelming. For a modern, retro look I love this white leather side chair with 3 legs. Its unusual design evokes the 60’s mood of Madmen when “modern” was just starting to be accepted by urban Americans.

Side chairs aside, these gorgeous barrel back side chairs are elegant enough for your most favorite people or pets, whichever species you can relate to!

Can we talk? This is elegance personified. Regency inspired and a perfect choice for a Paris Chic or Hollywood Glam theme, I can definitely see this little number in a matching left and right pair, or by itself for a focal point in any setting.

One of my favorite styles, the slipper chair can go just about anywhere, especially with all the variety of materials Treasurecombers.net has for you to choose from. Here is just a sample of what’s available to pique your interest.

This charming  autumn leather classic can be classified as an “armless” or a slipper chair.

And finally, the all important accent chairs. No room looks complete without one of two of these types of chairs to pull a room together, or make a comfy place for guests to engage in a lively conversation.

There are so many chairs to choose from, it’s difficult to show all the wonderful assortment Treasurecombers.net has to offer. My suggestion is to visit their fantastic website and take your time selecting the exact chair you think is right for you. You can tap into your inner decorator by viewing the chairs on offer and when something “hits”, trust your intuition will lead you to the right choice. It’s all a matter of trusting your own Inner Decorator! You can’t go wrong when something feels right.

The Essential Desk

The end of the summer seems to conjure up those childhood feelings of going back to school: the first day of school, the first day of college, buying new books, getting a brand new haircut, shopping for new shoes and new clothes fill our last days of August with excited preparations. For me, I start to feel a need to get organized, clear out the clutter and re-assess my furniture and wardrobe. Autumn is just around the corner, the daylight is tilting at a lower angle in the sky, days are a tad shorter and my nesting instincts have me fantasizing about painting the living room sage green, wallpapering the bathroom and buying new furniture for every room! A most important decision is choosing the proper desk. This time of year a place to write a thank you note, organize my snail mail or just enjoy a private work space is essential to me. Finding the appropriate desk just got a lot easier with these lovely choices from Treasurecombers.net. Picture yourself seated at this fabulous writing desk of antique pecan with a box of handsome stationary writing those sentimental birthday cards and sending hand written invitations for your next intimate dinner party. Get inspired to get organized with these elegant brass handled drawers. Staying organized just got a lot easier. I love the fact that this Green Pear writing desk is made from sustainable, plantation grown  mango wood. Eco-friendly and beautiful are the qualities that make purchasing this functional and stylish piece an easy decision.

Modern styling like this Open Block writing desk really speaks to my sense of less is more. The clean lines, the sense of spaciousness and an uncluttered place to work is just what I need to attend to those writing and organizing tasks. If ever I needed some inspiration to tackle all those writing projects I put off all summer, this is the desk that I would choose.

More sustainable, plantation raised mango wood is used for this truly lovely console style desk. Don’t you just love the graceful turn of the legs of this desk?  A traditional style, yet a perfect piece that will blend with lots of different decors. The three drawer arrangement works to keep everything organized.

This Taupe Faux Shagreen writing desk is the absolute perfect solution for a college dorm or teen bedroom. Doubling as a vanity table or a writing and work space for your college bound student, this is what I would be taking into the dorm!  The hidden center drawer will hold all your make up or notebooks, pens and rulers.

Somehow, we are all sad to see the summer fun come to an end, but the anticipation of new beginnings, new experiences and especially new furniture energize us and help us look forward to a productive fall and  the ever enjoyable Harvest season.

Wishing you success for an easy transition into Fall, until next week,

Contemporary Bowl Basics

You may remember the week before last I was writing about bathroom makeovers. Treasurecombers.net has been expanding its selection of products to include bathroom fixtures, vanities and these wonderfully designed toilet bowls that are eco friendly and address the impending water crisis’s our planet is facing. According to the EPA,  by the year 2013 (that’s four months away as of this writing) an estimated 36 states will not only be facing some sort of drought related problems, but they will  also be experiencing water shortages from  inefficient water management from our antiquated water treatment plants and systems. Dual flush toilets with low flow 1.6 gallon capacities are becoming the new norm for all bathroom installations.

Let it be noted that Treasurecombers.net, always on the cutting edge of style and design is ready to accommodate your bathroom makeovers  or new construction with the latest in contemporary, modern and traditional toilet bowls. I love the newer, one piece designs; so easy to clean and maintain, especially around the base! No more of those squiggly, swan type nooks that are so difficult to wash and wipe.

Triangle, one piece bowl

Another feature I particularly like is the choice of shapes. You are no longer confined to the boring oval, unless this type of toilet goes with your current décor, or you just like the traditional style. Here are some great alternative choices for your new bowl!

Square Bowl Design

Here is one of my favorite designs of all. I love the flowing lines of this one piece back and seat. The curve of the silhouette is so feminine. I can picture the matching decor; elegant and stylish with a sophisticated slant.

Choosing a toilet bowl design used to be fairly straightforward. The 50′s brought us pink, baby blue and tan colored bowls; the 60′s and 70′s held little innovation in this department; the 80′s were a time for “designer bowls” with names like Pierre Cardin and Oleg Cassini, ( a favorite dress designer of Jackie O.) embossed on the edges and now, finally a true advance in style, design and function that complement our modern lifestyles.

Traditional or Modern, all  new toilet bowls will eventually be dual flush and low flow. The conservation of our natural resources becomes more pressing each year. Thank goodness we have our brilliant engineers and designers to provide us with beautiful choices that satisfy our need for beauty without sacrificing our environmental needs. Thanks Treasurecombers.net for providing us with these fabulous choices!

Until next week,

Now that wine vineyards are popping up just about everywhere on the map, the US has its share of up and coming wine regions. Four Steps for Choosing a Bathroom Vanity

Decorating bathrooms can be a tricky undertaking. Whether it’s a remodel or a new bath, the pipes and fixtures must be a perfect fit.  I always carry a small, pocket size tape measure in my bag just in case I find a piece of furniture or home décor item I may want to buy on the spot. There have been numerous times I  bought something I was absolutely sure would fit in a certain space, only to find it was just a half inch too long or tall when I got it home. I find it so tedious to return things, especially if they are larger than a toaster oven and needless to say, soooooo frustrating! I have learned to measure twice, cut once as every good carpenter or seamstress knows.

First, decide on what style you want for your bathroom: Traditional, Modern, Victorian, Antique or Contemporary. Treasurecombers.net has just posted a huge selection of bathroom vanities on their website that can suit any style you have in mind. Here are a few different choices to help you get some inspiration.

Antique

Contemporary

Traditional

Second, figure out how much space you will need; a one sink pedestal or a two sink cabinet with lots of drawers and storage.

Third, measure your wall space! I cannot stress this point enough. You must know your measurements to insure the correct choice for your particular room. Don’t forget the height of the base cabinet, the depth of the cabinet plus the sink and measure the space above for the mirror. (You might also plan where you will put your lighting and draw a pencil mark to indicate this).

Now, you are ready to look at color, shape and design. The modern and contemporary styles are so elegant and have wonderful clean lines to make any bath look up to date.

Need some pizzazz in your bath? Look at this great orange vanity. It comes in red and black too, so get creative.

Next, make sure the plumbing is ready to receive your choice of vanity. A good plumber is a great asset for this task, but in my experience, if you are handy and a DIYer, go for it.  I once installed a toilet all by myself, including the wax ring and it wasn’t really that difficult, but the toilet was quite heavy to lift! It is still in use today, and I am still so proud of my DIY job.

Lastly, choose the vanity you absolutely love. You will be using it daily, so go with your first impression about which style to choose. If you change your mind, no worries, you can always find a great update or replacement at Treasurecombers.net now that you understand how simple a bathroom vanity installation can be.
