The week before last, much of the Midwest and Middle Atlantic States suffered a severe storm that left millions of people without power. While many folks were left in the dark, those of us who LOVE candles, were relishing our quiet and peaceful ambiance with dinner by candlelight, the romance of subdued lighting and our features enhanced by the subtle glow of a softly lit room. The battery powered radio played some mellow jazz or maybe some classical piece we had heard long ago. Even the most unromantic of husbands or boyfriends will succumb to a candlelit dinner when all else fails. If it takes a power outage to feel the love, so be it!
Candles will suit just about any room in your home. Candles and candelabras can fit anywhere that needs a bit of decoration or that final touch to finish the look of a space. The wonderful thing about candle holders and candelabras is they can be used as decorative objects in the daytime and add a thoughtful look of elegance even when you aren’t burning candles. On the other hand, you can never have too many candleholders or candelabras in every room of your home. Here are some of my favorites from Treasurecombers.net
I absolutely adore this candelabra. What a dramatic and sensual focal point for a great room or a dining area. The effect is truly stunning! A pair of them is even more effective.
If you have small children or animals, please follow all the necessary precautions. Treasurecombers.net has so many lovely enclosed candle holders to choose from, you don’t have to sacrifice the ambiance and heady glow of candles for safety concerns. Here are some lovely enclosed candle holders as well as the must have Hurricane candle holders, a pre-requisite for any outdoor al fresco dining, no matter what the weather.
Another favorite way to use candles as purposeful decorating tools is to light a candelabra in front of or IN your fireplace in the summertime. It gives the effect of a warm, glowing fire in warm weather, without the heat. It’s a great way to show off a fireplace in the off season.

Doesn’t this summertime fireplace look fantastic? The added twinkle of the metal branches with led lighting makes the whole space electric!
You can never have too many candles, and while the NOAA predicts we may be seeing more blackouts than ever due to the increased Solar flare activity of our Grandfather Sun, it is a good idea to stock up on candles, candle holders, batteries for your radios, and some pantry items for a romantic dinner just in case. Hurricane season is here, and August and September may bring a few storms our way. Being prepared in style is so much more pleasant than suffering through a power outage grumbling and complaining. Why not embrace the Earth Changes we are experiencing with elegance and a sense of adventure. Keeping the home fires burning until next week,
Happy Decorating!
